Integrated Industrial Project, Onitsha

The project was Norwegian government assistance to the reconstruction of East Central State after the Biafran war. An agreement between Norway and Nigeria dated 3 July 1973 set the framework for planning an integrated industrial project at Onitsha, bringing several production and administration buildings together on one site.

The Norwegian work was carried out by a consultant team from Trondheim under the FIVU secretariat, the Secretariat for Industrial Promotion Abroad. Trond Thommesen was the architect, with Arne R. Reinertsen as coordinating consulting engineer and with electrical and mechanical services by Gunnar Paulsen and Kristian Gjettum respectively. The Nigerian team was led by architect Frank Mbanefo in Enugu, with local consultants for structure, electrical work and quantity surveying.
