National Laboratory for Engineering and Industrial Technology
The LNETI facility in Paço do Lumiar, Lisbon, was developed as an integrated research and laboratory campus for Portugal’s National Laboratory for Industrial Engineering and Technology. The project formed part of a bilateral cooperation agreement between Portugal and Norway, which was signed in Oslo on 1 July 1980 and ratified through an intergovernmental agreement.
The facility comprised an administration building, laboratories, research departments, IT services and a social centre with a restaurant. The project was based on a preliminary design drawn up in 1979 and was financed through Luso-Norwegian cooperation, a loan from the World Bank and Portuguese government funds.
